Elton John - Lady Samantha (To Be Continued...")
Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Released as a UK single in January, 1969
When the shrill winds are screaming
And the evening is still
Lady Samantha glides over the hill
In a long satin dress that she wears every day
Her home is the hillside, her bed is the grave
Lady Samantha glides like a tiger
Over the hills with no one beside her
No one comes near
They all live in fear
But Lady Samantha, she sheds only tears
The tales that I told round the fire every night
Are out of proportion and none of them right
She is harmless and empty of anything bad
For she once had something that most of you have

Only one of these Johns is actually thinking about a female while singing this.
Great recording, though. Thank you for posting.

in all honesty, i dont like it. They are singing the exact same notes, there's no harmonizing or any of the vocal mastery that made the beatles so unique. Both of these artists are capable of far better.

Paul McCartney wrote it and sang it when both were in the Beatles (as John mentions in the intro).

At the time it was written they were still writing music together. most of their early music was written on Paul's front porch back when they were kids.
